          During this time, Emil met and married his wife "Sunshine" Donna Driscoll and the two started a family that eventually grew to seven children. Since the small theater actors received no pay, Emil worked as a laborer by day and rehearsed and acted by night.
          Although humor and pantomime had become his forte, Emil performed many roles in dramatic plays as well as comedies, and his repertoire included "Anna Christie" by Eugene O'Neill, "The Lower Depths" by Maxim Gorky, "Depression Island" by Upton Sinclair, "Time of Your Life" by William Saroyan and "The Boor" by Anton Chekhov.
